CHARACTER
NAME:
Lockon Stratos
FANDOM:
Gundam 00
TIMELINE PERIOD:
Season 1, Ep 21, just before he intercepts Patrick Colaseur's final blow to Tieria Erde's Gundam, Virtue.
BACKGROUND:
Lockon stratos is one of the four Gundam Mesiters under the supervision and control of Celestial Being. He is the pilot of the Gundam, Dynames and specializes in sniping enemies.
He has a very amiable and sensitive personality, making him one of the most well-liked among the pilots. He is very laid back and understanding- however, if the situation calls for it, he will set his foot down and reprimand/discipline the other pilots. A good example of that was when he punched Setsuna for almost revealing his identity to the enemy and not only compromising the mission, but the other pilots as well. Whatever he does, he does it in best interest, even if it means putting on a fake smile to reassure.
Because he's very sensitive to what others may be feeling or thinking, Lockon later on targets Tieria. He noticed right away the way the other pilot addressed and tried to keep himself isolated from not only his emotions, but others as well. Lockon sees in Tieria a good candidate to change for good. He is the one to confront, comfort and bring the humanity Tieria had been denying he could possess.
It is later in the series that Lockon's reason to join the 'eradicators of war', Celestial Being, was that he lost all of his family in a terrorist attack in Ireland. However, Lockon does have one family member that survived the attack (or perhaps was not present at the time), his twin brother Lyle, but he never mentions him or sees him, for reasons unknown.
His real name is Neil Dylandy and that is also revealed later on, after comforting Feldt because she was upset for her parents' death anniversary. That is also one of the main reasons why she begins growing romantic affection towards the older pilot- for which he is aloof or decides to pretend being ignorant of.
Unlike the other Gundam pilots, Lockon has an orange Haro that helps him tune and maintain Dynames in optimal shape. However, the little orange robot is not only there to aid him in maintenance, but to help Lockon target enemies and keep him aware of his surroundings when sniping- the little robot is also very attached to his master.
Later on in the series, an enemy reveals to Lockon that Setsuna- one of the Gundam Meisters he has taken to guide as a big-brother figure- was part of the organization that was at fault for the terrorist attack in Ireland and caused his family's death. Lockon felt betrayed and enraged and even when he pointed his gun at Setsuna, in the end, understood that both shared a common enemy and decided against shooting him.
During an enemy attack (on which all 3 main opposing powers joined) on the Gundam Meisters HQ ship, Ptolemaios, the pilots protect themselves and their base as best as they can. The Meisters' units are out-gunned, and they strive to defend themselves. During the battle, their main computer, Veda, is hacked into and deactivated, leaving them defenseless. However, a backup system is activated and every unit except Tieria's is able to reactivate. Seeing Tieria's unactivated Gundam, Patrick Colasour goes for the killing blow. Lockon rushes to intercept the mortal blow and save his friend.
